Here is the match report from Michael Gray :-
Pentland United 4(1)-0 John O'Groats A cold Caithness night welcomed John O'Groats to Dunnet for United's final game in April. Playing with the wind JOG tried to pen back United however the home side buoyed by their win on Monday also opened up well. Again the focus of their attacks similiarly to Monday were Baker and Mackenzie on the flanks. Auxiliary forward Allan Sutherland also showed up well always giving options. Muir probably had JOG's best attempt of the match early on when he nearly caught out Gray with a wind assisted cross that the keeper tipped away for the corner. Physical challenges were the order of the day and Sinclair entered the referees book for one crude challenge too many. United opened the scoring midway through the first half when Morris at the back post powered home a Bremner corner. Boyd up for a corner then created the next chance when he showed quick feet and crossed to leave his defensive partner Gray with what appeared a simple tap in however the centre back contrived to put it past the post. The game ebbed and flowed for the rest of the half without any really significant goalmouth action. Half time 1-0 The second half immediately showed a change in the pattern of play with United dominating possession and territory, however JOG did look to counter at every opportunity. After 55 mins United doubled their lead Morris played in Baker who ran on to blast high past Henderson into the roof of the net from twelve yards. United seemed to visibly relax with the two goal cushion and Bremner, Farmer and Inrig were imposing themselves on the match with great effect. United then scored again after 60 mins, Boyd flicking on a Gray long throw and finding Inrig at the back post who finished the chance nicely and effectively the game. Morris was then removed to protect the big striker with forthcoming games in mind Farquhar being his replacement and immediately was in the thick of things running at defenders and earning a corner of Sinclair. Bremner then sent a crashing drive of the underside of the bar the ball then being scrambled clear. J Sutherland then replaced Inrig who had taken a knock, and again showed well harassing defenders leaving them no time to relax. With ten minutes left Cassidy replaced Baker who had shaken of the effects of a cold to play and earning a well deserved rest. Cassidy had a couple of half chances and brought a good save from Henderson. As the game drifted into injury time Cassidy brought out another excellent save from Henderson but the keeper's luck deserted him as fans favourite Tony Farquhar opened his seasons account with a simple tap in. Three well earned points for United who were made to work hard by a spirited Groats team. The game was well marshalled by referee Makoulli and ended a good week for United. Baker, Farmer and Bremner were United's best performers on the night although from 1 through to 14 there were no disappointments.
